This month we shipped a completely rebuilt editor that works in .docx natively. No conversion in, no conversion out. The file you upload is the file you edit, and the file you download is the file you edited.

Headers and footers, edited in place
Headers and footers used to live behind a separate popup. Now you edit them directly on the page, exactly where they appear — double-click into the header, type, click back into the body. Page numbers, logos, firm letterhead, and multi-column layouts all behave the way they do in Word. You can also lock a header or footer at the template level, so firm branding stays intact on every deal document generated from it.

Import any Word version
Received a redlined copy back over email? Drag the .docx straight into the document and Propdocs imports it as a new version — formatting, tracked changes, and comments included. No copy-paste, no rebuilding the document from scratch, no losing the other side’s markup.

See exactly what you sent
Version history now shows the precise state of the document at the moment you sent it to a counterparty. Open any prior version to view it as it was, or compare two versions side by side to see exactly what changed between them. That means no more guessing whether the copy someone is referencing is the one you actually sent.

Full Word feature parity
The rebuilt editor supports the formatting that real contracts depend on:

  • Tables – merge, split, resize, and adjust borders and shading
  • Multi-level numbered lists and legal numbering schemes that hold across sections
  • Checkboxes and content controls, including fillable fields
  • Watermarks, page setup, margins, and section breaks
  • Images with wrapping, cropping, and positioning
  • Track changes and comments that round-trip cleanly to and from Word

If it works in Word, it works in Propdocs — and it survives the trip in both directions.

Why this matters for your Deals
Deals run on documents that get passed between parties who don’t share software. Your broker uses Word. Opposing counsel uses Word. The lender’s template came out of Word in 2011 and has been edited by nine people since.

A document platform that quietly reformats those files creates work and risk. One that treats .docx as its native format removes both. You can bring any document in, collaborate on it in Propdocs, and send it back out with the formatting exactly as the other side expects.

The format is the product
Documents are the deal. Everything else — approvals, signatures, version history, attachments — is built on top of them. Getting the document layer exactly right is what makes the rest of it trustworthy.
