Product Updates – July 2024

by | Product Updates

In July, we introduced a new feature in Propdocs that we’re confident will enhance your document creation process: Placeholders. Designed with efficiency and accuracy in mind, Placeholders are here to simplify how you structure and manage data entry within your templates.

What Are Placeholders?
Placeholders are customizable fields that you can insert into your templates, making it easier to input and organize essential information. Whether it’s standard details like dates and addresses or more complex clauses, Placeholders ensure that every required piece of data is accounted for, reducing the risk of errors and omissions.

For more detailed guidance on how to insert and manage Placeholders, check out our How to Create Placeholders article.

Flexible and User-Friendly
Placeholders can be set as either optional or required, giving you the flexibility to tailor documents to your specific needs. Optional Placeholders allow you to add details that may vary from one document to another, while Required Placeholders help ensure that critical information is never overlooked.

To make the process even more user-friendly, all Placeholders are conveniently listed in a sidebar, allowing you to quickly fill in the necessary details. Counterparties can also fill in these Placeholders, streamlining collaboration and ensuring that everyone involved has access to the most up-to-date information.

Learn more about how to fill in Placeholders in our How do I use Placeholders article.

Enhancing Accuracy with Track Changes
As Placeholders are completed, they’re tracked within our Track Changes feature. This allows you to keep a clear record of what’s been added and by whom, providing transparency and maintaining the integrity of your documents throughout the drafting and negotiating process.

Ensuring Complete Documents
One of the key benefits of Placeholders is their role in ensuring that documents are fully complete before they are sent out. If any Required Placeholders are left unfilled, Propdocs will prompt you to complete them before allowing the document to be sent for review, approval, or signing. This feature helps mitigate the risk of sending incomplete drafts, which can lead to delays and potential misunderstandings.

Why Placeholders Matter
In contract drafting and negotiation, the details matter. Placeholders help streamline the drafting process, reduce the likelihood of human error, and ensure that your documents are as complete and accurate as possible before they reach their final destination. We believe this feature will significantly expedite your workflow and improve the overall quality of your documents.

We’re excited to see how Placeholders will benefit your work in Propdocs and look forward to hearing your feedback as you integrate this feature into your process.
